The dress was made by the upcoming top designer Francis Libiran, a Filipino designer which was a personal choice of the show’s producer and has been phoned and asked to design gowns for the contestants for this season. Libiran who previously made Hello kitty designs for lunch boxes and other accessories for the Japanese franchise choose an Asian popular Actress named Anne Curtis to showcase Libiran’s gowns through a set of photos and submitted it to the producers. The producers approved Libiran’s designs and Libiran shipped the Hello kitty’s couture in boxes from the Philippines to U.S. The gowns were made last year and the episode has been aired this week.

Francis Libiran was not the first Asian or Filipino designer to be featured in the glamorous TV show. Previous seasons featured another Filipino designers  Eillen Cinco and Oliver Tolentino which showcased fierce designs like using recycled materials.

According to Avril Lavigne “It is geared toward an older age group. It started at Kohl’s. It was at a cheaper price point. The quality maybe wasn’t as good. Now, it is a little higher price point and better quality, which makes me happy.”
